This is perhaps the picture book text which I feel most proud of, as I’d always wanted to write a simple yet
exciting rhyming adventure which would also be a sort of counting book. I wrote it in 2000 but it was hard to find the
right illustrator. It was worth waiting for Anna Currey, though – her pictures are so warm and humorous and perfectly
capture the atmosphere of the night-time bedroom, and her teddy bear is adorable.
